The S Word! Support!

Okay, so I am still wearing the promo hat and plan to bring forth another problem in the scene. Bands supporting other bands. Going to another bands show is the best thing a band can do for themselves. Got it? Going to another bands show is the best thing a band can do for themselves. Say it with me! Going to another bands show is the best thing a band can do for themselves.

Today, more independent promoters are asking bands to pretty much set up their own show. When a Booker asks, "have any friends that want to play with you?" that is exactly what he/she is talking about. But how do you make these friends? Pay 7 bucks and see a local show. Grab some beers with bands. Form a relationship. Make your name, and your bands name known on the scene. If you want people to come and see your band, you need to go see other bands. Networking-works. You can have a million shows lined up, but if no one attends your show, how fun is that? Support the scene you want to support you.

The rockers in Ganto Barn and Surgeon know to rock the stage with any band and support the scene . The members of the these bands are amazing musicians, and awesome fans of music. Follow the lead...

Well, you know I agree with you. I would be great to see other bands follow the lead more often. I've gone to a ton of shows, and only a few of the bands I supported showed up for mine. I used to get pretty mad about it, but I just decided not to support those bands anymore. And that's what will happen to other bands too. You can't beg people to come to your shows and not go to whatever is important to them, be it a show, party, or a simple get together that a friend really wants to see you at. In the end it's a simple respect issue....
keep it rockin' baby!

well id have to disagree, because you should go to a show if you actually LIKE the band that plays. tbh theres ALOT of bands in philly right now that aren't good and shouldn't be making music, but they are. if i go to a show its because i like the music the band is playing. im not just gonna go cause a guy from another band happens to like mine.

What about networking though? Isn't that important?

isnt that why we have myspace?i mean its nice to see another band at my show supporting me but id rather have people there that actually like my band. especially if i know that band is only there because they feel they have to be. the only time i expect a band to be there is if they played that night, cause i cant stand when they leave after they play.

Anonymous- You bring up an amazing point!

"cause i cant stand when they leave after they play." I have witnessed this many times. Sticking around is a great way to show some support.

Anyway, I'd love to know who you and your band are. All in a good way. Feel free to reveal yourself (clothes on) to me. Contact info in profile.
