Say what?! (booking-part 1)
I run Mayhem Promotions. We promote bands. This involves getting the word out there for a show already booked. Through the internet, street teaming, word of mouth...we make sure people know that the show is happening. I, personally, book a few shows a year. Usually, I help out bookers and companies last minute, or assist in benefit shows. Mayhem Promotions always receives emails from bands about booking them a gig. This is fine, but what is said isn't. It's more of how you say it, then what you say that matters. I do know some awesome bookers and venues. I can offer some great advice, but when you simply say, "Get us a show" with a link to your bands page, I think, "why?" No introduction, no sentences about the band, the sound, the crowd, the nothing...just simply - get us a show - this triggers the "why should I get YOUR band a show" attitude whether you meant to or not. So please, if you need anyone to get you a show, make sure you give them reasons why.And once you get the show...you know where to turn...

it's funny and a shame that you have to spell out something that seems so straightforward!
